There are different types of Diamond Settings depending on ring model, shape, diamond cut, color and size (from "dust" to big carat diamonds). I can do any kind of stone setting including:

• prong
• pave
• channel
• bezel, semi-bezel or rim
• floating or tension
• flush or burnish
• bar
• invisible

The main purpose of each setting is to provide as much sparkle and light for diamonds as possible and avoid stone damages or fall outs in future. Some settings are suitable for hard stones only (diamond or sapphire). Some settings would require more labor and experience to guarantee the best secure result. The metal choice is also important since yellow gold , for example, will not reflect well the yellow shades of diamonds and will make them less shiny. So platinum and white gold are more suitable to be used for higher quality diamond settings.

In general, the overall quality of setting is defined by several parameters such as : unified colors of all diamonds used in one jewelry item, maximum density of setting, the same height for all diamonds on all levels, the same amount of metal parts holding the diamonds.

Many years ago I noticed that gold prices may drop even dramatically (compare 1 oz = $1750 in 2012, 1 oz = $ 1200 in 2014, according to Kitco.com), but diamond prices are always up. That is why I make investments in diamonds of different shapes and weight, including GIA and EGL certificated diamonds.
So you don't necessarily need to find diamonds when placing a custom order with me. I can take care of this for you to find the best fit. Anyway, you can always bring your diamonds or any old jewelry item that can be used instead.

Engraving and Signatures

Engraving is an additional way to make a jewelry item unique and exclusive by adding signatures, phrases, dates, personal messages and decorations on your wedding bands, rings, bracelets, watches etc. Just by using engraving you can make a perfect special gift for a person you love.
Since I was drawing pictures a lot in the past, I can also draw some ornaments on your jewelry or ring like vine leaves, for example as shown on the picture below. I use engraving tools of Vallorbe (Switzerland), the sizes from 0-1 knife edge usually. In some cases I can use special machines to achieve better results.

If you wear jewelry on daily basis for many years or have an old ring inherited from your grandmother, then you might notice that they don't look as great anymore. Diamonds are not that colorful and shiny, stones may be darkened, metal may be carved and scratched, especially soft metals like silver or yellow gold.
These issues can be easily fixed by replacing stones, and even re-making items with adding new design elements and casting the same copy of the item in white gold or platinum.

It is also possible to create an exact copy of any jewelry item that you saw somewhere in the magazine, internet or museum, just bring that item, or the picture of it with a detailed description.

In order to keep the beauty and sparkle of diamond jewelry, it is important to wear it accurately and store it properly. Some strong chemicals like chlorine, mercury, iodine may cause a serious damage to your jewelry as well. Also you should know that at high temperatures diamonds attract more dust resulting in less sparkle. That is why from time to time a professional cleaning is needed to recover the original sparkle of stones and wipe out accumulated dust and body oil that can penetrate into stones and metal and become very hard to remove.

The safest way of diamond jewelry cleaning is to use ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Jewelry item is being sunk into liquid for 10-15 minutes where vibrations will be created in water to quickly remove all the durt and oil from jewelry and diamonds. usually, this method is recommended for jewelry with diamonds, sapphires and rubies, which are strong enough to stand this procedure. If metal has lost it's sparkle and has scratches, it can be fixed by a special polishing wheel that makes the surface of metal perfectly smooth and shiny again.
The cost of professional ultrasonic jewelry cleaning is $ 10-15 .

There are different reasons when you might need an appraisal of jewelry items you possess. In most cases, appraisal is required for insurance companies if you have decided to insure your jewelry in case of loss.
After examining a jewelry item, all the parameters need to be included in the appraisal form such as :

• jewelry item description
• type of metal
• diamond color, clarity and cut/shape
• diamond weight, diamond setting type
• complexity of design, any additional parameters.
